Hello Friends,

I am asking you, my dear Customers, to please support me as I walk 5k to help Conquer Cancer on Sunday, September 12, 2021.

I am participating in the "Weekend to Conquer Cancer" and raising funds for cancer research at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and supporting "Team HIPEC"!

I especially want to acknowledge Dr.Govindarajan, the brilliant surgeon who saved my life and his incredible team. I am doing this for him, the incredible staff at The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre and for all the patients who will benefit from additional research!

My Story: In January 2019, I was working out with my daughter Katie. I was doing a back extension when I felt this huge pain in my abdomen. The pain subsided, but over the next few days my abdomen started to swell. I went to the doctor and was sent for a pelvic and abdominal ultrasound. Although inconclusive, they sent me to see an Oncologist (Gynecology) at Credit Valley Hospital in Mississauga. My first surgery was on March 21,2019 - I had a complete hysterectomy and this is when they discovered that I had a Stage 4 cancer that originated in my appendix. LAMN: Low grade appendiceal mucinous neoplasm. I was referred to Dr. Govindarajan and the "AWESOME" team at Mount Sinai Hospital / Princess Margaret Hospital. They took such good care of me. Walked me through the next steps. On September 3, 2019 I had HIPEC/Cytoreductive surgery. A 12 hour surgery that would save my life. The talent and expertise of these dedicated doctors is mind blowing. But their humanity, care and bedside manner are what propelled me forward. These doctors and their team will always hold a special place in my heart. The surgery was a success!

On Sunday, September 12, 2021 @ 10am, two years after surgery, I'm doing it again, I'm walking 5k in support of "TEAM HIPEC", our friends, family and colleagues who have been directly affected by cancer. Please join me in supporting this team and all the cancer research teams at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre!

You all gave so generously last year and I'm hoping that we can continue this trend and reach my 5K goal! Join me virtually. (I'm sorry that we can not organize a walk all together due to COVID, should that change I will let you know ASAP!)

Please know how much I appreciate your support and so do all of the patients going through what I did. This research is so important.

I will have a group of friends walking with me on this special day & I will post pictures and share this day with all of you!

Currently, COVID-19 is putting unprecedented stress and pressure on Canada's healthcare system, frontline workers and patients. At the Princess Margaret, our cancer patients and survivors are particularly vulnerable, especially those with compromised immune systems. In an effort to take action against these challenges we remain dedicated in our vision to Conquer Cancer, and with your support we can raise funds to continue ground breaking research, clinical trials and treatment at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

As one of the top 5 comprehensive cancer research centers in the world, The Princess Margaret is developing innovative cancer therapies that are changing cancer care for patients in Canada and around the world.

Thank you so much for your support and with your help.
We will CONQUER CANCER IN OUR LIFETIME!

Thank you all so much...this cause means the world to me!

Sending you all lots of love,
Elizabeth (your Liz)
