TARIFF, TARIFF, TARIFFS. CANADA FIRST!

TARIFF, TARIFF, TARIFFS. CANADA FIRST!

Tariff talk has recently heated up between Canada and the U.S. The temperature again rose when Ontario (LCBO) stopped selling US made wines and spirits. We want to assure you that we are staying on top of developments and keeping you informed. At this time, there are no changes, that affect us directly but things are somewhat fluid.

There has been a strong response to these unprovoked US - trade tariffs imposed on us. We have heard from many annoyed customers who are avoiding US wines at TVW. We have seen an increase in overt Canada Pride (specifically the type without the rainbow). The succinct excerpt below is from one of our suppliers.

We recognise that these tariffs may create some consumer hesitation around U.S.-sourced goods however, it's important to note that all Global Vintners Inc. products are proudly made in Canada. While we carefully select premium grape varietals from the other U.S. and top-growing regions to provide the best possible winemaking experience, our products are designed, developed, and manufactured in St. Catharines, Ontario, using domestic and imported materials. The final result is a high-quality, Canadian-crafted winemaking product that consumers can trust.

More importantly, these wines are then made at independent retailers like The Village Winemaker, across communities throughout Canada.

We are proudly Canada-First and will gladly help you to find replacement wines for you.

Sincerely,

John Seaga & The Village Winemaker Team
